Photography Competition – why not enter and see if you can win?

I am a Trustee of Chancepixies Animal Rescue and we are holding a Dog Fun Day on 29th August 2010 at their kennels in West Hougham, Dover, Kent with pedigree, novelty and obedience classes plus lots of other events and stalls.

For those people who cannot get to the venue but would like to support their aims we are hosting a photography competition with Prints of your images and Pets at Home vouchers for the winners.

For details of the classes and how to enter please visit our competition page at the Chancepixies Animal Rescue website

This is one of their rescues who is currently looking for a good home enjoying herself in the exercise paddock – if you are thinking of getting a dog please consider these kennels as the dogs deserve good homes where they do not have to spend the majority of their time shut in a kennel and run but can play like this more often.

Dogs Looking For New Homes

I visited Chancepixies Animal Rescue yesterday and met two delightful little characters who are looking for people to give them a secure and loving home. Chancepixies takes in those dogs from kennels that have a destruct policy and these dogs, and many others, were going to be killed because no one had wanted or claimed them during their time at the original kennels.

The agility tunnel was new to them but I think they enjoyed it

Going In!

I can go Over as well!

This IS such Fun

I can do the tunnel as well

I look soooo good next to the daffodils

This is the boy I took on as a rehome from them a few months ago enjoying his walk

If you are looking for a new canine companion to share your home please consider contacting Chancepixies Animal Rescue

Maverick – RIP

Maverick had to be put to sleep in June as a result of lymphoma, she was a wonderful girl, very photogenic and loved the camera. This shot, taken a few years ago has always been my favourite photograph of her.

For some reason it has also been the most “illegally” used image around the web as well. If anyone spots this on any forums or photo-sharing sites it should not be there and I would be grateful if you would let me know.

Primroses, Daffodils and a Dobermann

Tuesday 7th April

The primroses and daffodils are looking fabulous at the moment – probably due to the lack of wind and rain that so often batters them around at this time of year.  As rain is forecast over the next few days I thought I had better get out and take some photographs before it is too late.

Ko’bra

Tuesday 24th March

This was a very sad day for me as my nearly 11 year old Dobermann, Ko’bra who was fine yesterday looked poorly today so I took her to the vet only to discover that she was suffering from cancer of the spleen, she was obviously in pain and as I was unwilling to put her though an operation that would only prolong her life by a few weeks or months I took the decision to have her put to sleep.

This photo was taken just a few days before she died

Alexandra Park, Hastings

Monday 9th March
Birds, Squirrels and Dogs

I called into Alexandra Park on my way back from Hastings (if you ever get the chance then spend some time wandering around as there is so much to see here with all the different areas.

I came across this very friendly and laid back Newfoundland who I thought looked lovely ambling amongst the crocuses, even if he did squash a few

Then a squirrel who I am sure uses this as a “I am so cute, feed me!” pose as it seemed so contrived :)

and a blackbird who paused in his hunting for food to post for a picture for me – complete with muddy beak

This Moorhen was spending most of the time I was watching chasing others around on the bowling green, I wonder what the people who spend so much time keeping the bowling green so pristine think of it?

This Spaniel was having great fun with its owner throwing the ball for her
